Dryden Way
Structural Re-Design, New Build, Steel & Timber Frame
At Dryden Way in Orpington, we re-designed the building’s structure for a nine-unit residential development, changing it from a reinforced concrete frame to a lightweight steel and timber solution. This shift allowed the piled foundations to be replaced with a more economical raft foundation, cutting costs and simplifying construction.
The site also posed challenges with a Thames Water trunk sewer running beneath it and the need for a sheet piled retaining wall to support the existing footpath. Both elements required careful consideration in our design.
